Akatsuki Blitzkampf was a USA poverty favorite(still is?) in it’s prime-time, but since the newer versions only released in Japanese arcades it has lost much of its popularity. The game play is a bit Third-strike inspired, being very spacing dependent (footsies). The combos are not that crazy, but they are still long enough that you get that “I just did a sick combo” feeling. Blitzkampf does have a parry system with low, mid/high, and air. If you miss a parry or reflect as they are called in Akatsuki Blitzkampf, you will get punished hard as there is a long recovery time.
The game controls are quite simple with only three buttons, yet it doesn’t lack any features you’d expect in a 6 button fighter. Blitzkampf has 14 characters to choose from, all who for the most part have their own unique moves and play-style. Charge characters, grappling, zoning, gimmicky tanks, The games got something for everyone.
The download for the game can be found below, and detailed information about system mechanics and game play can be found on the wiki over at mizuumi. I highly recommend you and your bored friends give this one a try, make sure you use the included caster for online play(Netplay Guide Below).
